The TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300 GMT

On the 24th of August 2022, TAG Heuer brought out its entry into the GMT market. TAG released the Aquaracer Professional 300 GMT, a new addition to the ever-popular Aquaracer Professional 300 family that was first launched in 2021. This new model offers a GMT complication and an aptly designed, sporty colour palette. This new model is athletically aesthetic and solidly constructed, making it a contender to be one of the more popular watches in the more affordable bracket of GMT models.

The TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300 GMT has a bold 43mm case and sits comfortably on the wrist, just as its predecessors do. The form of the Aquaracer is, for the most part, consistent with its family. Short angular lugs, a slim polished case side chamfer, and a case finished with strong directional brushing.

Tag Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300 GMT Bezel

Like the rest of the Aquaracer Professional 300 models, the GMT's most iconic characteristic is its octagonal rotating bezel. With its unique coin edge 24-hour design, this distinguishing bezel sets the Aquaracer apart from any competition. However, the GMT adds a white and navy-blue colourway to the glossy ceramic bezel insert. This detail draws its inspiration from the Aquaracer's heritage and nautical roots. Also, it gives an end-of-summer feel that complements any wardrobe or personal style.

This new Aquaracer also includes a cyclops date magnifier on top of the sapphire crystal, which may, on the other hand, split the appeal in the watch buyer market.

The case back of the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300 GMT is fitted with an engraving that features its angular, contemporary portrayal of the classic five helmet motif. It has an intricately executed matte texture. Some may think that the inclusion of the GMT complication may mean that the durability of the Aquaracer is depleted; however, the model loses nothing in durability. It is just as resilient as the other members of its family, holding the same dive depth water resistance of 300 meters.

What about the Tag Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300 GMT dial?

The dial of this new TAG Heuer Aquaracer resembles that of the other models in the series as well, with only a few differences that have been made. The base dial is the collection's signature oceanic blue sunburst, with a "deck plank" texture, horizontally slotted to add an interesting and dynamic visual cue.

TAG Heuer has contrasted this deep blue with hazard yellow detailing for the central second's hand, 6 o'clock dial text and small arrow-tipped GMT hand. This pop of vibrancy adds another aesthetic layer to the design that aids in making the Aquaracer Professional 300 GMT much more unique and desirable. The rest of the dial layout remains unchanged from its precursors. The hybridized Roman sword/paddle handset is flanked by applied faceted indices that mirror the angular lines in the lugs, case and bezel.

The date window on the Aquaracer GMT can be found at the 6 o'clock position, which keeps the dial symmetrical and in line with the white and navy theme and aesthetic of this new timepiece.

The Tag Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300 GMT Movement

The TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300 GMT movement is the iconic ETA 2892-A2- based Calibre 7 automatic GMT movement. The Calibre 7 has been a legendary TAG Heuer watch-making party for years. Its performance is robust and dependable, with 50 hours of power reserve at a frequency of 28,800 BPH.

If you are a GMT complication traditionalist, you may lament the Calibre 7 as more of a "caller" than a "traveller" GMT movement, as it consists of a quickset 24-hour hand.

The Tag Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300 GMT Straps

This new model from TAG Heuer is offered with two different strap options. The first option is the brand's sharp, fully brushed version of the classic three-link oyster-style stainless steel bracelet. The second is a more athletic, modern-looking strap option. The third textured rubber deployment strap in a dark navy-blue colour complements the sports watch's underwater aesthetic.
