The Ingenieur Automatic 40 by IWC Schaffhausen is a modern iteration of a classic, carrying the bold aesthetic codes of Gérald Genta's legendary 1970s Ingenieur SL, Reference 1832. Genta’s vision of a stainless steel luxury sports watch with an integrated bracelet is faithfully preserved in this model while ensuring it meets the demands of contemporary watchmaking, from ergonomics to finishing and technology. The watch features a 40mm stainless steel case and he blue dial is decorated with the signature “Grid” structure, where small lines are offset by 90 degrees, contributing to the distinctive look of the watch. A significant design highlight is the improved ergonomics, including the newly engineered middle-link attachment that ensures optimal comfort, even for those with slimmer wrists. The watch is powered by the IWC-manufactured 32111 calibre, which offers an impressive 120-hour power reserve. True to the Ingenieur’s legacy, the watch features a soft-iron inner case to protect the movement from magnetic fields, and its ten bar water resistance ensures robustness suitable for everyday use.
