About Jaeger-LeCoultre Watches

Since 1833, in the heart of the Vallée de Joux, in the Swiss Jura Mountains, Jaeger-LeCoultre has continuously renewed its creativity and inventiveness. One hundred and eighty different expert skills are brought together under one roof, to breathe life into the heart of the watches and to animate each infinitely small component.

Maison Timeline
1833 – The first Jaeger-LeCoultre workshop was founded on the borders of the Swiss Jura by Antoine LeCoultre
1844 - Invented by Antoine LeCoultre, the Millionometre is the first instrument capable of measuring the micron to refine the manufacture of watch parts.
1866 - Under the leadership of Elie LeCoultre, son of Antoine LeCoultre, all watchmaking skills are gradually brought together under one roof.
1903 - Jacques-David LeCoultre, grandson of Antoine LeCoultre, takes up the challenge set for Swiss watchmakers by Edmond Jaeger, Parisian watchmaker, and starts developing ultra-thin watches
1928 - Invented by Jean-Léon Reutter and developed by the LeCoultre & Cie Manufacture, the Atmos pendulum is classical yet avant-garde. A variation in the ambient temperature of just one degree is enough to power the mechanism for two days.
1929 - The watchmakers miniaturize the Duoplan movement to create the Caliber 101 – a smaller, manually wound caliber. Its 98 components barely weigh 1 gram.
1931 – The Reverso was born out of a challenge to design a model that can withstand the polo matches of the British officers in India
1958 - Precise, robust and resistant to magnetic shocks, the Geophysic chronometer is a symbol of reliability
1968 - An iconic timepiece of the Maison, this alarm diving watch is equipped with a patented triple case-back system to optimize the diffusion of sound under water.
2007 - Inspired by the 1880's chronometer, the Duomètre collection is designed around the Dual-Wing concept.
2013 - The Master Grande Tradition Gyrotourbillon 3 Jubilee offers a new, bridgeless version of the Gyrotourbillon.
2018 - Inspired by the iconic Memovox Polaris watch from 1968, the Polaris collection is launched
2019 - The Master Grande Tradition Gyrotourbillon Westminster Perpétuel is the latest generation of multi-axis tourbillon to emerge from Jaeger-LeCoultre.

Frequently Asked Questions

Have a question about buying a Jaeger-LeCoultre watch from Paul Sheeran Jewellers? Read some of our most frequently asked questions below, or get in touch with our team of specialists for any other queries.

What is the best luxury watch brand to buy as a first watch?

This is entirely a personal preference. We advise doing a little research on each brand to help guide your decision. Personal budget will at times dictate brand or model choice as prices vary, but enjoy the research process and find the watch of your dreams. The luxury watch industry is fascinating and once you buy your first watch, you'll never look back.

Do you resell or exchange watches?

Generally we don't resell or exchange watches and we would only sell new watches from each of the brands we stock, however if you would like to discuss further don't hesitate to contact us.

How often should I get my watch serviced?

We recommend keeping a close eye on the performance of your watch and if you see anything that is not what you'd consider normal performance, get in touch with us and we'd be happy to advise and arrange a service. It is worth noting that in most instances, your watch will need to be checked by us every 1-2 years, this is perfectly routine and depending on the watch brand, falls under the brand warranty.

Typically how long are the waiting lists for new releases?

It very much depends on the brand and how they managed production and availability. Some models are created for specific markets and exclusive occasions however we work very closely with each brand Maison to maximise allocations for the models we know will prove most popular in the Irish market. We recommend getting in touch with our watch team who can advise on how long you'd expect to wait for your preferred model.
